So this has been some week. It started out with horrible pain on my right side. Which turned out to be a kidney infection. Which then turned to be kidney stones. Because of all of this going on in my body, I didn't want to chance the amnio knowing my body is already fighting an infection. So we have pushed it back to Aug 14th. (tomorrow) My nerves are in high gear, and I am waiting for the next 24 hours to be over with.
On Aug 4th we found out we are having a little girl. Her name will be Adelyn Rose, and we are so EXCITED!! Ben wanted a girl from the beginning, and is so excited. The first day we went looking for baby stuff he walked up to me with a bib and burp cloth (not realizing what they were nor their use, but thought they were pretty) and purchased his first item for our little girl. His words," I want to buy this for Addi" My heart melted. This little girl already has him wrapped around her finger.
(controversal topic) Agitation over the last week: Someone made the comment,"You want to make sure not to wait till your 20 weeks to put off the amnio because you can't abort the baby after that." WOW *shock* I understand people will have their beliefs, but I have made our intentions quite clear since the beginning. We want to be prepared. Whether it is at 20 weeks, 17weeks, or 30 weeks. We just want to be prepared. The thought of aborting never cleared my mind. Ugh. It still upsets me to hear people and their opinions regarding parents who do amnio for the only reason to be to decide if they want to abort the baby (this is what some people think the only reason for amnio is). Or people who say Amnio is the same as aborting the baby. Or, amnio is selfish. Just like my very supportive Drs. you don't know what it feels like to be in a situation until you are there, and you cant make the call on someone else's pregnancy until you are there. I have said it and will say it again. This baby will be loved, no matter what. If this baby comes out with special needs, we will be prepared to give this child everything that we can. And she will receive all of the love and support that she deserves. As for me being selfish. I am putting myself through a very harsh test to find out answers we need to know before birth. There are risks, yes. But just like walking the street you have a risk of being hit by a car. People are stuck on risk factors. And yes there are factors, but those factors we decided when the procedure first hit the medical feild. Now i wonder how many people it took before an open heart procedure was perfected. What were and are the risk factors there? What were the risk factors for breast implants. But you dont hear people knocking that as hard. I am so frustrated in people thinking I want to hear their opinion on how stupid they think my decision is. Or receive a facial expression when I say I am doing the amnio. I am by no means selfish to put myself through this just so we can be prepared for her and ANY medical needs she may come with. *whew* Im done.

Its a .........
We went to OBGYN on Aug 4th. It was just going to be a normal visit with no ultrasound. Our OB was delivering a baby, so our appt. was postponed. Well in the mean time Ben managed to swindle the nurse into letting us "have" an ultrasound. In the first ultrasound the babies legs were crossed, hands were covering the goods. We tried to move but baby was not moving those hands. The ultrasound tech told us to walk around for a while. We went in again, and same thing. We thought we just would find out, so with bottom lips poking out we returned back to our room with not knowing the gender. We has our appt. with OB, and on our way out, the nurse stopped us, and told us to go by the ultrasound room and try one more time. And our little Adelyn Rose showed us for a split second just how girly she was :) Ben is ecstatic he wanted a girl. I will be more at ease next week after our Amnio, but am so thrilled myself. She looked healthy by the OB doesn't make calls on the actual baby. So next week we will get our long awaited answers.

ER Trip
Well we can now say we had our first "pregnancy" trip to the ER on Sunday. Since last Thursday I had not been feeling well. I wasn't able to hold much down, and to say the least not a pretty site. Saturday I started feeling better, but not 100%. I was able to keep a little down, but just felt a little nauseous. Sunday, the sky fell. NOTHING was staying down, and to be polite, it was coming out in more then one place at the same time. I started to feel weak. I have passed out before from dehydration/food poisoning, and I didn't want it to happen. I was more concerned about the baby. If it was just me I would have crawled in bed, with a trash can and gone to sleep, but it isn't just me I have to worry about. I went to an Urgent Care, where I was told they could not help me because I was pregnant. So I called OBGYN (yes I got to talk to someone on a Sunday) and they instructed me to go to the ER for fluids. So Ben and I went to the ER, where we were for about 5hours getting Zophran (the best nausea medicine) and fluids. I left feeling better then I have throughout this whole pregnancy!! I was exhausted but felt great! So, lesson learned. I can drink any pregnancy approved liquids, not JUST water. I just have to keep drinking something.
We went to obgyn today (Monday)....Baby is wonderful, and I am still fantastic! We have an appt with them on Aug 4. We may be able to find out the sex of the baby then!! That will be a great B-Day present for my Mom and Dad!!

Dr Update
Dr. update: We saw a new AMAZING perinatalogist. His was wonderful! When Ben and I went into the ultrasounds room, we to be honest were expecting the worst. But, as soon as we saw the baby, I immediately said, "Its not there anymore". The 3.2mm of fluid was not there. The nurse grabbed the Dr, and looked at our 11wk ultrasounds that had the fluid and he stated. Your right the baby looks beautiful!! The Dr had no reasoning for the fluid to drain. (We have our reasoning :))
We have decided to do the Amnio, because there are still risks for organ deformities that we cannot see on an ultrasound. We have reviewed the risks with the Dr. There is a 1 in 1300 change of miscarriage if it is done after the babies brain is fused together. The high risk factors come into play when Dr's perform the procedure prior to the babies brain fusing. We are doing this to be prepared when the baby is born. If there needs to be a Dr (ex. cardiologist) on hand at birth we will be prepared. The Amnio will be done Aug 12th.
I am now officially drained!! This has been such an emotional roller coaster for us. And I have been trying to keep myself together for the babies sake. But I am now just exhausted.
Thanks for all of the prayers we have received, this baby is truly God's miracle.

No updates.
No updates! We had a fabulous wedding this weekend in which I was a bridesmaid (beautiful New Orleans style wedding) , and I got to spend time with family and friends, and it was amazing. Ben and I both really needed to get out. We had a great time and got really spoiled by my parents. We are looking forward to the appointment on Thursday morning at 8:30am. I have had tons of encouragement through family and friends, and even people I have never really spoken to before. Everyone has really pulled together for Ben and I, and our precious baby.

Dr Update
The Dr called *sigh*. To some extent I cringed in answering, but being positive *big smile* I answered. It was the Drs office where I origionally went to see the first perinatologist, and the hospital system he moved away from. (If that makes since) Well, they are recommending I stay with the new hospital system instead of transferring to the other hospital system with the first perinatologist I saw (the one we really didnt like). So NEW PERINATOLOGIST *sarcasm entered here*! I will have to be seen roughly every other week for ultrasounds. We have our next one scheduled for July 16th at 8:30am. Hopefully we will get some questions answered, and Ben and I can finally relax for a little.
FAQ: *smile* Are we going to have amnio? My outake on this: With there being so many questions at this point we are still unsure.
How are yall handeling it: I will say I am more or the freak out queen, I have my moments of pure meltdown-ness. Where I go from being ok, to that was so the wrong question to ask. Ben is more of a silent type. He will ask questions when we are alone, and he will express concerns. But we are both handeling it very well together, and are looking forward to what ever comes next as hard as it may be. We know we have the support of God, our families, and friends.
How far along are you? 11 weeks 6 days to be exact.

Update for today
So my OBGYN called, and they got NO INFORMATION from the perintologist. The new place my perintologist moved to does not do screening as early as mine was done, and doesn't know how to read it. *huh* They only do 2nd trimester screening. *huh* Well, this settles so well with me, since I didnt order the screenings, I didnt just pop in their office and say ," so you know what, I think my baby has a chromosonal abnormalty, and I need blood work and an ultrasound stat" *angry* My OBGYN assured me they would find out more answers for me tomorrow morning. Yet waiting again.
The beginning-till today
Our journey started May 13th when Ben and I found out we were expected. I was a moment filled with joy and disbeleif that we made a little miracle.
The first 10 weeks were all but normal. We had ultrasounds, a beating heart, 2 legs and 2 arms that moved, and a very active and healthy baby.
June 29, 2009
This will be a day my husband and I wont forget and when our journey started. We had our normal ultrasound, and everything looked fantastic with a great heartbeat of 179 that we heard for the first time. We went back in the waiting room with our ultrasound pics on cloud 9. We enjoyed this time looking at our baby, sending pictures to our parents and friends.
We walked into the Dr office, and waited in the office. Ben was so impatient open up the blinds in the exam room while I'm posted up on the table *laugh*. I was laughing at him because he couldnt sit still.
The Dr. walked in and long story short he informed us of some chromosonal abnormalties detected in the regular ultrasounds. *shock* We had no idea. *shock* We both a 10000 questions running through our heads, nothing made since, we just saw the little one. Nothing could discribe how we felt.
What now: We were then advised we would have to see a perinatal Dr. and he would run somemore test.

My momma came up to help us, *i love you*
July 1, 2009
We met with the perinatalogist. He was quite rude, but we will pass that and move on. We had about 1.5 hour ultrasound. The baby was moving around, kicking me, and attempting to suck his/her thumb. It was precious. The results were againing shocking. It is normal for a baby to have fluid at the back that measures anywhere from 1.8mm-2.5mm, 2.5 being the high end of normal. Our baby measured at 3.2mm. I tried to ask the Dr. was this way off the charts? Is this bad? Is the baby going to be ok? But the Dr gave us nothing. *shock* nothing. All of his answers where "We will have to wait". I was trying to find something to hold onto but their was nothing. The Dr. kept asking me for questions, but I didnt have any. I didnt know what to ask. What do you ask in this situation.
It is possible for the fluid to drain, but it is also possible our first child may have downs, or some other abnormalty. The other good thing is there is also a defined nasal and check bone which in reasearch 78% of downs children did not have. So that is a plus. *sigh*
We had blood work done. They will take the blood work, with the ultrasounds findings, and my age and other info to come up with a risk factor.
I am unable to focus, and Ben is staying strong for my sake. We are both answerless and speechless. But hanging onto each other.
July 7, 2009
I called the Dr. to find out my blood results through my regular OBGYN. They were positive for downs. This does not mean the child will have downs it is just another addition to my risks. The tears started flowing and wouldnt stop. How do you handle this?
I go to call the perintologist and in the past week the perintologist has completely changes hospital systems, and noone can get their hands on my information. *perfect*. My ONGYN contacted them and tried to get the info from them and now it is 5:24 and no answers.
******Emotion: I can cry, and be upset. I can not speak and lay in bed all day. But we right now have a happy healthy child growing inside of me that seems oblivious to any issues he/she may have. Which I cannot be happier for. I am so appreciative that God gave us this miracle. I will hold this miracle as long as he allows me to, and I will handle this day by day. He is giving me the strength I have right now because I have none. And no matter how many Drs touch me or this baby, they are not God and they do not play God. And ultimately this is his decision. And we will take this baby however he\she come: ******
